Quiet, and romantic Udaipur was built around a magnificent blue lakes, which reflect the green hills of the Aravali mountains and was founded way back in 1599. This city, full of beauty, was very advanced in the science of the time and fortified with bastions and 11 innings. Today you can still see the ruins of such bastions and visit some of the palaces. Btw. the James Bond movie “Octopussy” was filmed in Udaipur.
The City Palace is the largest in Rajasthan, highlights here are the arches, balconies, and wonderful domes. Much of the palace has been converted into a museum.
Saheliyon-Ki-Bara or “The Garden of the Ladies of Honor” is a beautiful ornamental garden. At the end of the day take a sunset sailing on the sparkling waters of Lake Pichola. Here the Lake Palace emerges from the turquoise waters like an elegant fantasy in white marble.
Jodhpur, the “Blue City”, is an oasis in the middle of the Thar desert. Jodhpur is Rajasthans second largest city. This city is full of colors, but mostly blue. Forts and palaces, temples and mansions, culture and tradition, spices and fabrics, color and texture, Jodhpur has everything in impressive quantities.
Visit Fort Meherangarh, undoubtedly the jewel of Jodhpur, is considered one of the best Forts in India. This powerful structure is situated on a hill with an incredible view of the surrounding area. Windows with intricate details, delicate carvings and elegant portals show the beauty and good taste of the ancient architects.
Each part of the fort has its own powerful atmosphere, and no traveler can escape the magic of this place. Near the Fort, a there is a monument built in white marble. There is also a unique exhibition of portraits of the Maharajahs and rulers of Jaipur. Take a walk to appreciate the details of the gates and trellises.
